John works for Ramboll as a Landscape Architect, getting involved with a range of schemes from large infrastructure projects through to small community led initiatives. He spent twenty-five years working in the market research industry for large corporate organisations and as an independent consultant, where he specialised in the built environment and energy sectors. In 2017 the Landscape Institute commissioned him to carry out the State of Landscape membership research study and was so interested in what he saw that he decided on a career change. By September of that year, he was enrolled in the Landscape Architecture master's programme at Birmingham City University. He has been a Landscape architect for two years and is also a member of the Landscape Institute Advisory Council.
