Think Green First: Agenda Setting, Coalition Building and Stakeholder Management

27 Sep 2023
Seminar Theatre 3
Are we always top of mind with our green and nature-based solutions? The awareness about our benefits is raising, but we still have a way to go. The time that greenery was seen only as decoration has passed. More and more greenery is linked to solutions in societal challenges connected to climate change, loss of biodiversity and health of people. We must turn awareness into action. Greenery and nature-based solutions, and thus our green professionals, should be involved at the beginning of the policy, planning and design process. ‘Think Green First’ must become the major principle in sustainable urban development. By doing this, we can create the needed attention for the right growing conditions and long term maintenance in order to achieve the desired ecosystem services. Think Green First is about agenda setting, coalition building and stakeholder management. How do we do that in the UK? Can we compare that to actions on European level? Where can we learn and reinforce? In this workshop we are going to put our profession higher on the social agenda.
