Designing Gardens for a Climate Emergency

18 Sep 2019
Seminar Theatre 3

In an era of rapidly escalating climate crisis, can we continue to design gardens that are driven solely by art and aesthetics? Assumptions, habits and expectations must change as to how we create and use our outdoor space; more is being demanded of both us as individuals and of the spaces we create and inhabit.  In all this uncertainty we still need – perhaps more than ever – personal places of sanctuary and calm, both for ourselves, for the biodiversity we can nurture and for a global environmental connected-ness that can find huge power in numbers of concerned garden makers and users.
