Creating Micro Climates and Habitats for Maximum Colonisation by Flora and Fauna

18 Sep 2019
Seminar Theatre 4

This talk will cover the sustainable use of by-products from the stone industry that can be applied to contemporary garden design. Hannah Sofaer will walk us through  constructing micro climates and habitats that encourage natural colonisation and a greater diversity of species, complimented by sculpture with surface texture, carved designs and lettercutting, creating a sense of discovery  through the changing quality of light on stone within contemplative spaces.

She will detail her new model for quarry regeneration-for interdisciplinary exchange, based on the geology that underpins the fragile layer of ecology on which we all depend.
