London’s Public Parks: Opportunities and Challenges for Landscape Architects, Designers and Managers
18 Sep 2019
Seminar Theatre 3
Public parks were originally established to improve public health & well-being. They were often provided by philanthropic giving, public subscription and local authority purchase and afterwards maintained by the local authority. Such parks were designed to serve the public living at that time; yet society, the environment and the economy have all changed dramatically since they were first laid out. This interactive session will explore how public parks have changed and consider what role landscape architects, designers and managers play in bringing about positive change in an age of austerity.
